Subject:                                                   Gate Creek Cabins Snow Report  2-18-10

Good Evening:

I hate to start with an apology ; but it seems appropriate tonight!  It’s been an incredibly frustrating day; an our sincerest apologies to anyone trying to get through on our phone lines, e-mail or the Snow Report.  MTA has reached an all time low  in their lousy Service … it’s been impossible to answer the phone, emails or communicate with the rest of the Planet … it amazes me sometimes that we can actually run a business with such shoddy Communications!!! To those of you that got through God Bless you it was a modern day miracle!!

OK, I’m Over that !!!

Bad News / Good News: Today was a sad day for Winter Enthusiasts in South Central Alaska. From way South of Anchorage to at least MP 140 on the Parks; warm temps and the dreaded “R” word prevailed. Trapper Creek and North had more “R” than I’d like to talk about … Most areas East, North and South of Moose Creek (MP 7 Petersville RD) are Wet !!!  We received “half and half” most of the day (Big Wet Flakes) and the snow is Heavy to say the least!  Kenny Creek Lodge And The Forks Road House are reporting 9” of new Heavy snow!!!

MP 105, 114, 121, 127 and 131 were wet all day long and Not a pretty sight … Please Pray for Cooler temps!!1

Unfortunately, I have No idea what the conditions are anywhere else … quite honestly I’m afraid to look.  There was some incredible snow on the Kahiltna Flats over the weekend (the best I’ve seen all year) … but I’m not sure how to access it right now!  Hopefully it survived this “Pineapple Express”. I had NO idea I hated Pineapple so Much!!

Just a few miles North of Here riders said the snow was a “white out” condition ( Close to the Reflector Tree) so it’s possible the Peters & Dutch Hills Finally got some snow, and maybe the Tokositna North of the North Loop crossing … The storm looked like that was  a possibility !! At this time, I know of NO overflow issues West of Moose Creek ….

The Temps have cooled as of 3pm and we’re sitting at 32.6 as of 11pm  Saturday is supposed to be sunny and clear skies with cooler temps; let’s hope Saturday comes tomorrow!

I hate to send out a report like this but you need to know … and good or bad I promised to give it to you straight!  I’d never make it as a Politian!

Better News coming Soon … The Snow Pack is still intact ( a bit punchy, but still intact)  J

Keep the faith, and the Rubber side down .. I’m Outta Here
