Subject: Gate creek Cabins Snow Report
- 1-18-10
Good Midnight / Morning J
It’s been awhile … not much to report, an inch here and an inch there! So this morning we picked up a minimum of 3” maybe 4” … some places here locally received more like 7”-8”. The really AWESOME snow we had everywhere 10-12 days ago was blown away by big winds. The creeks benefited by being “blown in” and the Southwest side of the Dutch is in Real good shape. The Area West and North of The Forks Roadhouse “sits down” in a more protected area than most and everything in the Trees is still good if you can find a place with NO alders! … and again … on the south side of a tree line (the wind came in from the North).
The Entire Trail System locally is being Groomed (with the exception of the Far North end of the North Loop), and as always randy Crosby of Alaska Snow Cat is doing and excellent job … The Curry Ridge Riders and the Anchorage Snow Club were going to try to clean up the brush on that section … “NO-ONE” responded to my plea for assistance … so I’m not sure what happened. Anyone interested can check the Curry Ridge Riders Website for info!
The New Snowfall was met with cheery faces this morning and everyone that enjoyed the Holiday in Petersville surely loved the new Snow!
Not much else to say, riders looking for lodging can find it at Kenny Creek Lodge 733.1310 or Trapper Creek Inn 733.2302
